Rock Trail 3 - Ferschweiler – Berdorf
Weilerbach
The hiking routes in the NaturWanderPark delux are spectacular, three large landscape elements are the main protagonists of this route: the Ferschweiler Plateau on the German side, the Luxembourg Berdorfer Plateau and the deeply cut Sauer Valley in the middle. The circular route owes its character to the composition of breathtaking panoramas, picturesque rocky backdrops and mystical forests - crevasses, caves and via ferratas give it the adventurous spice - castle, villa and chateau add the romantic touch.
You should set off early, because the circular route is quite challenging. When the morning mist still hangs in the forest, the first tentative rays of sunlight filter through the branches, and the owls' hoots echo through the valley, you will be captivated by the trail. Soon the first sandstone walls tower up before you, washed-out relics of an ancient river delta.
Pure adventure
The trail winds through rock labyrinths and around rock bastions, leading to magnificent vantage points and over narrow footbridges, surprising you around every bend. Here you will find your adventurous kick, roam the spectacular Wolfsschluff and the mysterious "Sieweschloeff", explore the "Raiberhiel", climb the iron ladder to the eagle's eyrie at dizzy heights and test yourself in the climbing garden "Wanterbaach"!
Water, sun, wind and time are the builders of this fascinating landscape. But also man has left traces, as the Bildcheslay, the Roman villa in Bollendorf, the Druidenstein and last but not least the hut buildings and the castle in Weilerbach impressively prove. The midday sun glistens in the water pearls of the fountains in the baroque garden and you will finally find a little romantic time for two before you plunge back into adventure.
