River Quartet - Always on the River
Bitburg
The element of water combined with nature and cultural experiences await you on this river quartet tour.
On the Nims cycle path to Minden, sculptures made of bright red Eifel sandstone line the path and unite culture and nature in a special way.
On the former railroad line we cycle leisurely through the Bitburger Gutland with its historic villages, old building culture and sun-drenched orchards.
In Irrel we follow the Prüm, after the Kyll, the second longest river in the Eifel, to Minden on the Sauer.
A short detour to the river bank is worthwhile. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the sound of the river during a short break.
On the German side the Sauer accompanies us on our way and leads between Metzdorf and Wintersdorf through a wetland where flora and fauna show themselves in their full splendor. At the Luxembourg border crossing Wasserbillig we meet the Moselle cycle path, which leads us to our destination in Trier, the oldest Roman city.
Along the Moselle we encounter natural contrasts between vineyard landscape and lovely river valley and at the same time an abundance of historical cultural monuments. From Trier we take the train back to Bitburg-Erdorf. From there we cycle on the Kyll cycle path via Bitburg-Matzen back to the beer town of Bitburg.
